Tuna time
With a small weather window looking good for an early try for a Swordfish, I hooked up the boat and headed to Sthelens. It was an eerie day on the shelf with a glassy sea and some thick sea fog rolling in. After 3 drops with no Sword bites I got a bit twitchy and decided to lay some berley down to hopefully attract a Mako or Tuna. Within just 5 minutes I had a good Tuna follow my Squidgy Whipbait to the boat! Next cast, bang! I'm on to a solid fish. First thoughts were maybe a big Albacore but after a solid 20 minute fight it turned out to be around a 25kg Southern Bluefin. Not a bad way to pass the time while waiting for a Sword bite! Unfortunately the bite didn't come this time but they shouldn't be far away so stay tuned!
