Terrova I-Pilot/ Spot Lock
Mar. 14, 2012 9:27pm
Yesterday I posted a general video by Dave Csanda outlining the advantages of using the new Terrova I-Pilot. Today I want to talk about the main reason I made the switch!

SPOT LOCK OR ANCHOR MODE

As an angler the ability to lock ourselves on a spot in open water it incredible! For the most part I fish the Great Lakes for Smallmouth which means I'm usually offshore, in deep water fishing small structure areas. This feature allows me to pull up close to my weigh point, lock the boat in place and fish vertically without having to worry about boat control or constant boat corrections to stay in place. Another great use for this feature is when we are drifting larger areas and we catch a big fish or double up. We simply hit the spot lock button and stay right there allowing us to net, cull and then continue working the school that we came in contact with while drifting.
I can go on and on about this feature but I think you get the general idea!

Cheers,

Derek

Great feature for troliing motors Derek. I just sold one on my last
boat. I just wanted to add that if you have an older style motor like
the power drive V2 you can add the the ipilot and have spot lock with
a kit from Minnkota. It takes about 30 minutes to install and your
ready to go. The spot lock was the main feature on the motor that i
used.

very good post, I am getting the 101 terrova with the I pilot on the
boat I just ordered, I was defenetly jealous of some fellow tournament
anglers that were fishing next to me in Sagamok last fall, they were
not stressed at all with keeping their spots and I was one of the
worst guys constantly playing with the electric motor trying to stay
on mine!!! It gets anoying with time. Now I will be able to
concentrate on fishing and catching the next kicker.
