I got started fishing at the age of two. My mom was the one that got me into it by taking me to all the docks around Kenora and we would try to catch perch, pike, walleye, bass, and what ever else that would bit. I got started fishing at the age of two. My mom was the one that got me into it by taking me to all the docks around Kenora and we would try to catch perch, pike, walleye, bass, and what ever else that would bit. This is were my passion for the sport began. When I was four I entered my first tournament it was just a small one it was called the Kids KBI. The first year I was in it I had a great time. Then the next year when I fished it I won the tournament with a 3 3/4 pound smallmouth bass. This is when I got the love for the competitive side of the sport not just the recreational side. The next three years I fished it I came 2nd twice and 3rd once. When I was six years old I got the opportunity to fish with my Dad in my first big event and that was a dream of mine ever since I watched my first weigh in. The event we fished was Bass\'n for Bucks which is held in Sioux Narrows, Ontario. Now I was actually in the boat with my Dad and we had a great tournament not cashing any cheques but we were able to share this great experience and milestone together. The next year we were able to fish one more tournament and this was the AYA event that gets held in Red Lake, Ontario (Angler Young Angler). This was such a fun tournament because ever kid gets a prize. The following year it was even better and we won the tournament which allowed us to compete in the AYA International tournament where we finished forth this is also where I got my first Sponsor. It was actually during the AYA International tournament that Lund Boats agreed to sponsor me.I actually walked up to the vice president of Lund Boats and asked him if Lund would sponsor me. His response was ask me on stage so I did and a short time later I was named Lund Boats first ever junior pro staff. I have had the privilege of working boat shows, and helping out with AYA events plus I have a pretty neat Lund wardrobe. Since this original AYA event we have been fortunate enough to win two additional AYA tournaments. When I was nine years old I fished the Big John Classic. This tournament gets held in Sioux Narrows. I experienced my first win in an adult tournament. It was awesome. At the age of ten I got to fish my first KBI tournament with my dad. I was now fishing with the big boys. While I didn\'t hit the prizes the first year, I have subsequently won the largest smallie category and the adult youth category. In 2011 my boss and I won the West Hawk Lake Bass Classic. We swept this event taking first place and I caught the big fish. This was one of the 12 tournaments I fished that year and the only one I won but I had 5 other top tens to go with this one I feel quite fortunate about the opportunities and experiences I have had as a result of fishing. Local pros have been kind to me, I have received sponsorship from Pure Fishing this company is such a great company to have as a sponsor they are very supportive and have amazing products and is also run by some amazing people. Lund Boats is also one of my other sponsors they are a great company they have amazing boats that are amazing to fish out of and boats for the family as well. Faculty of Fishing is the most recent sponsor I have picked up and this is such a great company the amount I have learned from them is amazing if you have not been on their site and gone through any of their online course you are missing out. I have tried to give back to my community the love of this sport by hosting two casting competitions in my school with the help of my sponsors. This was an eyeopening experience for me because some of the students had never held a fishing rod. One of these events was even put on Points North, a local television show. This past year I was able to get a job at Figure 8 Baits this is an amazing job it keeps me in the loop of whats going on on the water in turns of what the fish are doing. This job has also allowed me to get some experience in guiding. Guiding has always been my dream Job since growing up it has always been something i have wanted to do and this past year I finally was able to do it. I have also had the opportunity to be involved in some boat shows and helping in the AYA championship with Lund. I have been blessed to be able to do all the thing that i have done so far in my life and I hope to continue to be blessed so I can maybe make a living out of fishing.
