Kyle was born in Calgary, Alberta and has spent his life exploring the rivers and lakes in Western Canada. He started by tying flies at the age of 10 and two years later it progressed into learning the art of fly fishing at the age of 12. Now at the age of 17, Kyle is addicted to fly fishing and is all he thinks about… There are not many bodies of flowing water in Alberta he has not fished! Although he spends the majority of his time on the Bow River searching for bruiser browns and silver bullet bows, he loves exploring untouched streams in the Southern Alberta and Southeastern BC searching for dry fly crazy cutthroat and big bull trout! Fly Fishing is a main focus for this kid, traveling Canada and the globe for new and exciting game fish. From top water Smallmouth Bass to Big Northern Pike he is building up a long list of species taken on the fly!
Kyle works part time at a local fly shop, Bow River Troutfitters in Calgary, Alberta while attending high school. Many customers envy his job; all he gets to do is talk fly fishing all day long! He teaches both beginner fly tying and fly fishing classes to adults and kids. He has been working hard to establish himself in the fly fishing industry and work his way into becoming a fly fishing guide on the blue ribbon Bow River. His bucket list fish include Gar, Atlantic Salmon, West Coat Steelhead, GT’s, and a Tarpon over 100lbs!!!
In 2010, Kyle was selected as a member of the Canadian Youth Fly Fishing Team when he attended Canadian Nationals in The Parkland Manitoba. The Canadian Youth Team competes in national and international competitions, which brings the talented anglers from the countries around the globe. Now inspired by a fellow pro staff, Nick Pujic and the Fly Max Films team, he and a good friend, Zachery Southgate have taken on a new project as amateur film makers to showcase Western Canada’s world renowned fisheries!
