Like many of you, I am sure my desire to fish can be described as a passion and at times more accurately described as an addiction. Luckily, I have a wonderful family who although they don’t share this passion with me they do understand and support it.
Unlike most of you here, I didn’t start fishing till my early twenties. With starting a career, family and being a semi pro lacrosse player (including 92 Mann Cup Champion with the Brampton Excelsior’s) time on the water wasn’t nearly as frequent as I would have liked. Well, at 32 my lacrosse days were over. Instead of chasing a ball I have more time to chase fins around the lake.
My first tournament fished was the Huntsville Pike Challenge which eventually led to the Lake Muskoka Pike Open, joining the Mississauga Bass Masters and then last year the CSFL. I have also traveled to the US on 4 occasions to fish as a co-angler in the Bass Master Northern Opens. It was quite amazing looking out at the 190+ boats waiting for blast off. I had a lot of fun doing so and caught a few fish but do prefer to fish from the front of the boat.
My Favorite species to fish started out with Northerns and walleye but has evolved with a passion for bass as well. Some of my favorite lures would be jerk, stick, and top water baits and of course catching some big smallies on a drop shot is always a thrill.
Whether it is a weekend at the cottage or a tournament, I am looking forward to building on my successes in the next few years and improving my skills all the while meeting some great people in the fishing community.
