Carp outing goes to the cats
Decided since the charity day was cancelled due to Lake Ontario throwing a temper tantrum that i was going to head down to my local pond in search of some carp. Years of fishing this pond have produced some awesome memories and some close calls with the snapping turtle families that reside there. ...

Kayak Fishing in tough conditions
Over the past week, fishing conditions haven't been ideal. With high winds, fluctuating temps, precipitation, lunar influence and changing water levels, most folks would stay home... I don't. Fishing solo over the May long weekend then out with prostaff Ted Pace late this week, I've put together pi...

Ditch Fishing Monster Pike
Made it out yesterday to a cool section of the lake with a ton of little ditches and canals that the pike are using to spawn. Rather than worry about freezing the temps reached into the low 20s. So I could actually fish hard. As I worked my way through the ditches I would launch down the stretc...

Got Lucky Tonight!
I GOT LUCKY! Went down to the marsh and it was super windy, and was touph fishing. The Carp weren't as active and interested in my bait as i thought they would be tonight! I got down to the marsh at around 6 and fished till 8 and not one fish... Counted down from 10 to reel it in and call it a nigh...

Pursuing Hammond River Sea-run Brookies
Hammond River trout can be finicky at best. Being related to Kennebecasis trout, they don't follow the same rules as other sea-run brookies from other parts of eastern Canada. For one, they don't actually go out to sea. In fact, there's evidence that they don't even make it out as far as brackish w...

Conditions were favourable in my area and after 1 cast I knew I was going to have a good day. fished for a little over an hour and caught 5 pike and lost another 5 or 6, all handles but tons of fun, exciting and action packed...

Hillcest Academy L2F 2013
Terrible fishing conditions could not dampen the spirits of 25 students from Hillcrest Academy in Shelburne, NS on May 9th. We were very pleased to see such enthusiasm from the kids, they were real troopers during the entire Learn to Fish classroom component and especially at the lake where the bru...
