So Do Leaders
NS
Jan. 7, 2012 8:55pm
I had heard about people switching to fluorocarbon leaders, but i wasn't convinced it made a difference. I didn't have the patience to tie them on and didn't want to introduce another knot in the line.

That is until I saw the proof. We had several boats fishing a friendly tournament on a very shallow, small body of water. It was a very clear sunny day and you could actually see the fish at a distance. I simply couldn't get the fish to bite, yet around me I could see two other boats catching lots of fish. I knew those anglers were using clear fluoro leaders. I sat down and tied one on. Within minutes I was catching fish. I now take the time to rig all my rods with leaders and have taken the time to learn how to tie the knots properly so they don't break.

I spent all last winter testing until I could find a foolproof knot(me
being the fool, lol) that would handle the job.

Flouro matters big time...I always use a blood knot for my leaders...I
know other guys use other knots but I've never had one of mine come
undone!
