Yesterday my tourney partner Mike and I hit the pond in search of some big largies. We decided to try some different water this week, and thats never a bad call. Over time, you develop comfort lakes and comfort spots, which although fun, can become dull when its the same routine. New water, but I still love a flipping stick in my hand, so we headed to do some flipping. The morning was really tough, we managed a good number of fish, but they were small 1-2 pounders. Mike got one around 3lbs early on, then the bowfin started biting. There's not a lot that a jig fisherman hates more than bowfin, at least thats how I feel haha. Anyways, by around noon the bite turned on for us and we managed to boat a lot of good fish. The fish were super finicky but Mike finetuned his approach and figured them out. I followed suit and joined on the action! |
