Tackling Smallies with Swimbaits
Lake Winnebago WI
Aug. 29, 2012 1:37pm

Reel Used: Shimano
Line Used: Braided
Bait Used: Swimbait
As for Wisconsin's largest in-land lake, Lake Winnebago, you will never know what is on the other end of your fishing line. The lake holds a wide range of species, from Walleye, Perch, Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass, along with other species of pan fish, fresh water Drum, and last but not least, Sturgeon.
As I flipped the Swimbait towards the shoreline, on a day in early May 2012, I felt a heavy hit on my bait. Not ever knowing what is on the other end, I was surprised to see that it was a nice size Small Mouth Bass, giving me a good fight. Best fishing experience I've had in a long time, this just gets me more addicted to the sport.
