New Suick to hit the market soon.
ON
Aug. 16, 2012 10:48pm

One of the oldest most reliable Musky Jerk Baits is about to come out with a new twist. The Suick Thriller has been made of wood since 1935 when Frank Suick designed this bait with its dive and rise action to mimic dying bait fish to fool the Muskies of Pelican Lake in Wisconsin.
After a telephone conversation a few weeks ago with Franks grandson Steve Suick who now operates the the family business, he informed me of an exciting new option that will be available soon to the Musky and Pike fisherman.
I must admit what he told me took me by surprise. Steve said he had a bait he wanted to get into my hands and I was surprised when he told me that it was a Suick Thriller made out of industrial strength plastic. At first I was shocked, then I started to come around as Steve told me more about the bait.
I had to wait a few days after they arrived in the mail to get one on the end of my line, but when I did, I must say I was Impressed.
One great characteristic is that the more you bend the metal tail, the more side to side action you will get along with the dive and rise. When the tail is bent to this extreme, you will have to slow down your retrieve. This is going to make it a great bait in the fall when the water temps cool down.
A wire through construction is also a great feature and it will be available in 12 fish catching colours.
As much as I love my wooden Suicks, I'm gonna make sure I have room in my tackle box for a few new plastic ones. I can't wait to hit the water again.

The photo above features a wooden Suick and a new plastic Suick.
