spent Saturday and Sunday on the water with my buddy Andy and have the sunburn to prove it.
Andy used a 1/4 oz jig tipped with a live worm and hammered walleye and bass all weekend. I threw plastic minnows, spoons and cranks and didn't have nearly the luck Andy did.
The best part of the weekend was finding a new hot spot. The water is way down in Belwood Lake and my usual haunts are all dry. My new hot spot is near the dam along the shoreline, about 30 feet from the shoreline amongst docks.
Targeting Pike, Andy through his jog tipped with a worm to the shoreline in between a couple docks in about 3 feet of water. Half way through his retrieve, his rod bent and I assumed he hooked onto a 36" Pike. It gave a pretty good fight. Andy yelled for me to get the net and to my surprise, a beautiful walleye was at the end of the line. I'm guessing it was 2 - 1/2 pounds. After a few pics we threw her back.
We stayed on that spot most of the weekend and pulled in bass after bass. Most were about 12" but a couple were in the 18" territory.
All in all, it was a great weekend and i was glad to show another buddy how good Belwood Lake can be once you get on top of the fish.
