Summer Smallmouth
Folsom CA
Jul. 26, 2012 12:31pm

Reel Used: Abu Garcia
Rod Used: St. Croix
Line Used: 6 to 10 lb fluoro
Bait Used: Twin Tail Yamamoto w 1/2 oz. head
What a trip! Folsom is usually loaded with spots. You get the large mouth fairly regularly and the occasional small mouth, but this summer is a trip. One small mouth after another. It became predictable. Every fish. All of the fish came in 20-25' of water on offshore humps and large points all on the main body. Two spots I can describe easily are; off the end of the peninsula headed toward the left side of the dam and off Mormon Island on the main body side. But if you look around, the pattern remained true all over the main body.
I was using a jig for larger fish, but if you threw a drop shot with 3 or 4" shad type bait or 5" natural color worm, you would catch a bunch. My Humminbird 998 C SI was lit up. I left a lot of fish down there.
Go get em.
