It was a cool brisk morning I reached for the extension chord plugged into the back of my boat charging my batteries for my Minnkota 101 Fortrex. Gett...
I was having an exceptional day flipping catching about 22 fish in less than forty minutes. I was throwing a 1/2oz Terminator Pros Top Secret Jig in back and blue with a Strike King 3X jig chunk. For those of you who aren't familiar with the 3X series plastics. They are designed to stretch 3X more then the traditional plastics. This allows for longer use and more durability. On this day one fish stood out to me more then the rest. I had flipped my jig onto a deep stump and started to drag it on the sunken wood when I felt a bass pick it up. So I set the hook. Right away something felt off, like it wasn't a solid hook set. I ended up getting the bass to the boat. I then lipped the fish noticing that there was a 5/0 worm hook lodged in his tongue. The bass must of broke another angler off at some point leaving the hook behind in its tongue. I noticed in amazement that my jig wasn't even hooked in the fish. The 3X jig chunk had hooked up with the 5/0 Mustad hook in the fishes mouth. I reeled this bass to the boat and landed it solely on the jig chunk. The jig chunk was hooked to the 5/0 Mustad. The other thing is this fish wasn't a small one, it was a little over 3lbs. Incredible and unbelievable. I managed to take a few quick shots. Let me know what you think. I had one other witness on board and two other in a boat next to me. I'm planning on contacting Strike King somehow this should be a commercial or something lol..
