Here's a shot of my favourite fishing buddy proudly holding up his first ever Largemouth Bass, and what a beauty it was. Rory and I dunked Phoenix tubes around fallen trees along shorelines and islands scattered around the lake. We hit a ton of fish, primarily Smallmouth which are the prevalent species on Catchacoma, most however were somewhat on the small side, but fun never the less. Six year old Rory graduated from the spin casters to spinning reels this year which I picked him up in the spring. One I spooled with light Fluro for fishing the rock drop offs and reefs, and the second with 30lb braid for fishing trees, stumps and weed etc. He did great this morning, dunking and casting and displaying such patience, and them BAM! This bonus Largie hit and his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree... lol! He hooked, fought and landed the fish all by himself, all I did was put the net under it.
I'm looking forward to many more Bass trips with my little mate. I would not be lying if I said this little guy can cast better than many of my clients lol! He is going to be one heck of a fisherman one day (o:
