When is it time to give up on a spot?
Tri-lakes ON
Jul. 4, 2012 5:05pm
My partner Mark Welling and I went out to the Tri-Lakes event on July 1 for the CSFL Central Tour. It was our second tournament that we have competed in, and glad to say that we had a little better showing. We brought 4 to scale on sunday, doubling our performance at the Casey Cup. As we are still learning the ropes I thought I would put another question out there for feedback. We fished the north end of Chemong for the first 4 hours of the tournament and only brought in 1 fish to take to scale. We then moved to Buckhorn and found a few nice spots that turned much better results. When we look back at it, we both agreed that we put too much time into a spot that looked great, but wasn't turning any results. So my questions to fellow NPS members is, how much time will you put into a spot that looks great, but isn't giving out the results?

Great question Mike. I found that by going back to the same spot
thoughout the day usally tells me the fish will be using it. I also
check it the same way with different weather patterns. Pre fishing
helps me build my milk run.

I will give the spot about a half hour. if it doesn't ptoduce i move
on. i will usually hit the spot again during the day. good luck.

Hi mike if the weeds are brown get out , if it looks fishy and know
ones home come back a few times throughout the day 4 hrs is way to
long and you missed many bites elsewhere , run and gun , your timing
might be off , a tip for you , " watch for bait " no bait leave .
