Streamside Predator 7'6" casting Rod
ON
Jul. 2, 2012 8:31am

Reel Used: levelwind or baitcaster
Rod Used: spb76mh
Line Used: Braided and Mon Lines
If you are a bottom bouncer type fisherman and can't find a rod that has the sensitivity and backbone, give the Streamside Predator a try . The 7'6" casting rod teamed up with a levelwind reel or low profile baitcaster is a great combo. In the past I have used many different rods for this technique. Anywhere form 6'6" to 8'9" rods from various different companies. Since trying the Predator I have no reason to look anymore. It,s sensitivity is excellent. The IM8 graphite allows me to feel bottom changes like sand to rock to mud. The fast tip povides a good hook set and I am able to run 5/8oz -3oz bouncers without a problem. I normally run 1-2 oz bouncers.with a braided line in deeper water. This set up along with the rods sensitvity helps me feel a fish strike sooner than later. In shallower water I would run a smaller boucncer with 10-12lb mono, This gives me a little more forgiveness for short biting fish and a little stretch when hooking a fish..You don't want to pull the bait away from the fish so the stretch will compensate for the faster hook set you get in the shallow water. If you are looking for an in-line mini planer board rod this is an excellent choice as well. I recently ran this set up in rimley at the AIM Can-Am tournament with my larger boards without an issue. I have chunked larger cranks and spinnerbaits with it as well. This is a very versatile rod. It wil be a great addition to any anglers equipment.

Thanks for sharing this rod with us Craig. Since the mid 90's I have
been using the Compac Elite Professional Series 8'6" Medium action
Spinning Rod for the same reasons as you have mentioned above except
for using them on planer boards. These are great rods aswhile made by
Streamside.
