What better way of spending "bass eve" than to go out for walleye - one last trip as the bite slows down heading into summer. My fishing mentor/partner/teacher, Jason Lush (AKA Sensei Jay-San), and I headed out to Balsam at 5:00 this morning and spent about eight hours on the water, much of the time in 15 - 25 km/h winds. We were able to bring in six fish - five of them in the slot and one over - at 57 cm, I just called him "dinner". Jason caught him on a yellow and black bucktail made by "Big" Jim.
Filleted and fried, today's catch-o'-the-day was shared with my daughter, Jessica, who dropped by just in time for supper...strange how that seems to happen with kids after they move away from home : ) |
