Yesterday (Saturday, June 16, 2012) my dad and I headed to David Chong's annual Catch A Dream Fishing Derby! It was a huge success! So many boaters/volunteers showed up that there weren't enough children and parents for each boater/volunteer! Unfortunately, my dad and I were not paired up with a child and his/her parents. So we went out just the two of us for a couple of hours trolling and casting for pike and jigging for walleye. We were not lucky with those fish, but we did land a couple nice perch! When we went back in, I helped with the netting of dead fish and fortunately, I didn't work up a sweat because there were only a few dead fish. There were free hot dogs, burgers, drinks and slushies, popcorn and even cotton candy! There were many awesome prizes for the children and the boaters to be won. NPS was there with their stand which looked and was set-up awesome! I got the chance talk to many great guys, including Dan Miquel! Dan was very kind and generous to us which I appreciate very much! Overall, I had a blast, it was an awesome experience and I know my dad and I will like to show up year after year to help out!
