Last week was the peak for Shad fishing near the Carillon Dam in Quebec Province. Cought 40 to a 100 Shad per day all week long, doubles and triples are common with this species. I was guiding customers each days and they really enjoy the experience. Shad are living in Atlantic Ocean but come to spawn for about 2 or 3 week in freshwater. Fisherman do a lot of mileage to see and fight this awesome fish. We caugth many Shad with my two new Fenwick Fly Rods/ Pflueger Trion reels, what a trip to see this salmon rod bend from tips to handle ! Shad are explosive fish, each time a Shad bite a lure, it's like having a 5 pounds smallmouth fight ! For those who never fish this species, i suggest you to try it at least one time, you'll get hooked ! Tights lines ! |
