Cache Bay Pike Tournament
Lake Nippissing ON
May. 28, 2012 9:14am
I fished the Cahce Bay pike tournament on the weekend. I think this is the biggest tournament in the province, there were 225 teams in the tournament. The tournament is limited to only Cache Bay on Lake Nippissing and surprisingly it isn't all that crowded.

The blast off is pretty cool, they split the field in 2 groups, one leaves a half hour before the other and has to comeback a half hour earlier. The blast off is a horn and the entire group takes off at the same time, that's over a 100 boats.

The fishing was really good for most this year, most of the field caught limits. I fished with Roger Tetrault and we had a good day but missed the biggest fish we had on that really hurt us in the standings. We had a total score of 370 and finished 40th. Almost all the fish were caught on spinnerbaits, that's usually the case on Cache Bay. The weeds are so think in most places that you can't fish too many other baits. We got a couple fish on swimbaits but that was it.

Congratulations to the winners Mark O'Byrne and Marc Pitre, they had a score of 404.
