So this past weekend was a busy one. I'd wrote in a previous report that the Top50 Pike series was in town and with the two tournaments on my home waters I'd hoped for two top 10's.
Tomas Gadomski and I worked our butts off over two tough days of fishing on the water. Many anglers had a tough time catching their limits; It was hot and calm and the pike were being really stubborn critters. You could see them patrolling the shallows warming up but the great majority of them just weren't interested in what we had to offer. I was twitching baits extra slow past their noses and just a ton of them refused and ended up getting spooked. The ones you see can sometimes be tough to catch! Tomas and I didn't even get our limit on the saturday and still ended up 4th because it was such a tough day for everyone.
Tomas and I were hoping for at least two top tens and thats what we ended up getting- a 4th on Mary Lake and an 8th on the Tri-lakes. We didn't knock em' dead and steal either day but thats fishing and you just can't win them all. It certainly wasn't for lack of effort.
At the end of it all Tomas and I got a cheque for the saturday and we each won a Crock pot, or slow cooker for 8th on the sunday.
going to try and make my first pulled pork dinner with it. Wish me luck I'm a rookie in the kitchen.
Thanks to Pure Fishing for their ongoing support and for their great products. Specifically in this case I owe our success to the Abu Garcia REVO TORO WINCH. Crankin' them in and covering the water. Just an unreal heavy duty casting reel. Every cast counts in these tournaments and I wasn't struggling with backlash and gear problems put it that way. I was taking ultra long casts and covering just a ton of water. Most of our luck came on hardbaits. The sinking versions of the Sebile magic swimmers in both blue and siver, and black and gold. I was switching it up.
Thanks to the Top50 for running such a fun series. Its a pleasure to spend the weekends with such a big group of great guys and girls all competing against each other in high spirits. Great times, great food, great people, super nice volunteers who worked hard and were excellent hosts- just all round good events and a great weekend win or lose. www.topfifty.ca
Thanks for your support, for viewing and following my teams and I, and good luck on the water
