The Shimano Curado in Alabama
Leavellwood AL
Apr. 9, 2012 10:30am

Just got back from my annual trip to Alabama for some big bass. This year we tried a new resort and were not disappointed.
We used a portable Humminbird 798 side Imaging unit to locate some concrete blocks that were placed in the middle of this lake. Largies would school up there to feed on shad. Using a Strike King Red Eye Shad and reeling it in plenty fast did a great job. The 7lb 3oz bass in the picture absolutely crushed it and gave me a good run for my money on 12lb Fluoro as it tried to dive under the concrete blocks. Rod was a new Crucial CRC-C70MA. This is a TC4 rod designed specifically for crankbaits and will work great when using any bait with treble hooks. Very soft parabolic bend so the hooks don't get pulled out. But the best part of the setup is the new Curado 200G6. I've been hearing grumbling about guys not liking the new design of the Curados but it's performance that counts and this reel casts as good as it ever did and the drag is super smooth. yes I work for Shimano but I also don't just make things up to sell product. Give the Curado a try!

Thanks Guys...Kasey, it was a place called Leavelwwod Lodge. They have
3 private lakes to fish and the best accomodations I have seen in
Bama.

I gotcha, John. Up in Greene County. I haven't fished that north in
Bama. I'm about 5 hrs south of that. Looks like an awesome place to
fish, man!
