Home lake advantage, do you believe in it?

As the 4th stop on the BassAttack trail approaches, I find myself wondering if the Home Lake advantage is real. This is a very popular chain and for good reason. This is also one of two that I have fished for many, many years. I think my first time on this magnificent chain was over 25 years ago and it still leaves me in awe. It is beautiful and can give you a false sense of confidence. What looks like the perfect place from the deck is anything but under the surface. You have to know these lakes and how the bass react in each lake. The tannic stained lakes to the south and the crystal clear lake Minneola to the north. While not big by any sense of the word, they are large enough to have you runnin' & gunnin if you are not on the bite. Not sure after all these years where to start this tournament, just because there are so many places. So, I ask, is there such a thing as Home Lake advantage? I feel as though fishing your home lake can have you second guessing almost as much as a new body of water. What do you think???

Eric I agree with you. I know I'm just over thinking the possibilities. I know where to go for quantity and where to go for quality. I have been on the placing side of tourneys and the blown out days as well. I find an inner struggle of what to get first, 5 in the box and then upgrade, or do I place a few big fish in the box and add to it. I hope all is well and that you enjoy as much time on the water as possible before you deploy again. I do want to thank you for you service to this Country, and be safe.

In my opinion I truly believe there is a Home Lake advantage, you are right you sometimes second guess yourself, but I think the knowledge and confidence instilled into you of your home body of water outweighs the doubt. The things I run into on my home lake are knowing to many good spots, it's hard to decide where to start, but that's were a good game plan and practice pays off. To people who say fishing ins't a sport I challenge them to fish just one tournament, not is it physically challenging, but mentally and emotionally challenging as well.
