Crankin the Flats
Spent a hot late-summer day chasing walleye. The sky was clear and the chop was only intermittent.
Experience drove us to proven mid water humps. The jig and rig bites were slow and light. Typical August walleye non-bite.
It took a specific formula to get those fish slamming baits. The wide kick of tail dancers did the trick across open flats, and seemed to draw in walleye that were non-existent on electronics. The baits run true to depth, which also proved important in hooking these big bay cruisers close to bottom.
